Psalm 121:1-2

"I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth."

Lay it on the Altar

“Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, ‘Abraham!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’ He said, ‘Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.’” – Genesis 22:1 2 NASB

Think of all that Isaac represented to Abraham! Isaac was the fulfillment of God’s promises…a miracle child, born when Abraham and his wife were unable to conceive…the heir to his possessions…the continuation of the family line…the symbol of his future hopes and dreams.

Yet God called Abraham to offer his long awaited son as a “burnt offering.” What a shock this must have been! But Abraham’s obedience changed his life. It proved he was willing to commit everything to God. He demonstrated that he wouldn’t hold anything back and was ready for greater blessings.

Just as with Abraham, God wants us to know how to look at our lives. He understands how easily we can cling to people and possessions. We can hold things so tightly, and become so protective, that they take control of us. But God wants us to realize that we must be willing to lay everything on the altar and surrender it fully to Him. When we do this, we recognize that we cannot achieve blessings and success on our own…we must trust completely in Him…we must live for Him…He must have first place in our hearts.

Today, what is important to you? Are you clinging to anything or any person more than the Lord? Right now, lay everything on the altar. Commit it all to God, and make it an offering. Put Him first in your life. If you trust Him, He will take away your burdens and direct your steps.

Psalm 102:1 & 2

"Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee!
Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily."

It's over!!!!

I'm finally out!

Today was my last active day in the Navy!

I can now wake up when the sun is already up...what am I ever to do?
